The verb fare

Ciao


Do you remember some of the professions we have studied yet?
Today we are going to learn how to talk about your profession using the verb fare (to make)

"Fare" is used in Italian to talk about the profession or regular activities you make.  You just have to conjugate the verb Fare+ definitive article+ name of the profession or activity you make.

So let's first start learning how to conjugate the verb Fare:

FARE (TO MAKE)
IO FACCION
TU FAI
LUI, LEI FA
NOI FACCIAMO
VOI FATE
LORO FANNO



FACCIO LA SEGRETARIA
(I AM A SECRETARY OR I WORK AS A SECRETARY)

In the past lesson we have studied the Demonstrative adjectives in Italian on their singular form. Let's continue studying them.


The plural forms of the demonstrative adjectives are:


Italian
English
Questi
These
Queste
These (female)
Quei / Quegli (*)
Those
Quelle
Those (female)

(*) Quei and Quegli follow the same rules for the plural forms of the articles i and gli.


Let's see some examples:

Che lavoro fa?

Today we are going to talk about the professions in Italian.  
If you want to ask for someone's profession in Italian you simply say:

CHE LAVORO FA?   
CHE LAVORO FAI?
(WHAT DO YOU DO?)

OR

CHE COSA FA DI BELLO?
(WHAT ARE YOU DOING)

You can answer this question using the verb "Essere":

IO SONO+ PROFESSION

IO SONO UN DOTTORE
(I AM A DOCTOR)

IO SONO UNA DOTTORESSA
(I AM A FEMALE DOCTOR)

IO SONO IMPIEGATA
(I AM AN EMPLOYEE)

IO SONO ESTETISTA
(I AM A BEAUTICIAN)

IO SONO STUDENTE 
(I AM A STUDENT)
